THE SUMMER OF GEORGE

As the end of summer is slowly creeping up, I decided to whip together some of the tuneage that has made this summer one for the record books. You will probably see a recurring theme throughout that was influenced by the acts that moved me the most this festival/summer season: Night Slugs Crew, Hudson Mohawke and Dorian Concept. This is probably a very accurate snapshot of what I was listening to from May to August 2011. Obviously, there are several other songs/artists that deserve to be in this mix but just simply did not have the time to fit into the playlist. Anyways, hope you enjoy and lets try to stretch out that summer feeling with these tunes!

ENTERING THE HEART OF THE CRISIS

Dearest Kids On the Blog,

I will be venturing into the epicenter of the European Financial Crisis today, unless I get delayed by striking Greek airlines or Icelandic smoke clouds. Why exactly I am going to Greece at such a time you may ask? The plans have been in the making for quite a while now and 11 million angry Greeks aren't going to stop me. See you all in a week again. As always, I've got lots of posts staggered to keep you kids busy. Until we meet again.

Your friendly neighborhood blogger,

JAKOB

MONDAY IS MAKING SENSE AGAIN.

This makes my Mondays more bearable. That's all for today. I'm crazy tired. Tired like I ran 15km yesterday, had 5 hours sleep, woke up at 5:45am today, worked til 5:45pm and then hit the gym for 2 hours tired. So yeah, episode 3 of "How To Make It In America" is the highlight of my day.

ISLAND IN THE SUN

Dear readers,

Although I have just recently returned from a trip. I will be leaving you all once again. I'm going on a one month long island retreat with the family. Because I'm not sure how much access I have to the internet I have queued up enough daily posts until I get back. Therefore, some of the stuff you may get over the coming weeks may be dated as they are all from happenings from this week. Nonetheless, I hope you check me out daily and who knows I may have time to update with the latest and greatest.

Till we meet again,

J.A.K.O.B.

NYC - THE RUN DOWN

So I just got back from an epic trip to NYC and believe it or not the whole time I was there I was disconnected to the internet. Thus I apologize for the lack of activity on this here blog. This trip must have been one of the most spontaneous decisions I've ever undertaken as I booked my flight one week before flying without knowing if my passport would suffice for the strict US regulations and if I'd be having a place to crash. Long story short, I was able to enjoy one week of amazing hospitality from on of my friends who lived uptown in Harlem. It was awesome to have the streets of Harlem at night being the first sights I had of this amazing city. Not that it was dangerous or I was scared, lets just say the sight of a lost tourist with all his luggage at night is not a common sight. The people were more than helpful to give me directions.

I had just a week to enjoy everything the city has to offer and seem pretty proud of myself for getting all the typical tourist stuff done and enjoying some more of the local pastimes. One of those small things I'm more proud of is the fact that I had my first 40oz of Malt Liquor (followed by a few more in the succeeding days) which is not available in Europe. Ever since watching various films set in South Central LA in the nineties, I always wondered what it tasted like and man does it get you where you need to get going.

Apart from that I was able to enjoy all the culture the museums had to offer, insanely tall skyscrapers, the company of the good people that are
trying going to become future actors, student parties, amazing - seriously amazing food from all cultures of the world in insane proportions, the New York accent, the deli's, the beautiful people and being over 21 and being able to play beer pong in a bar whilst watching the Giants win during Sunday night football made it truly a week to remember.

With that said. I'm back bitches.

PS: I will try to put some of the photos I took as soon as I get my cameras developed (yes, I still use film).

GOING MISSING FOR A WHILE

Dear readers, i'll be going on holiday in Croatia for a week and am not sure about how much access i'll have to the wonderful world of the interweb. That's why I leave you with a few visual goodies in the post below. I know it's not going to be enough, but no need to worry, i'll be back faster than you know it.

Good night world.

IT WAS A GOOD DAY.

Sorry for the slight inactivity. I graduated yesterday and have been busy packing up three years of my life and saying my farewells to the friends I have made. Good times.
